MEET OUR FOUNDER

Dr. Carla Smiley, Au.D, CCC-A, FNAP
National Board-Certified Audiologist

Dr. Carla Smiley, affectionately known as Brandi by family and friends, was diagnosed with bilateral hearing loss by an educational audiologist at the age of six.  That audiology visit would forever change her life.

Dr. Smiley is a graduate of Northside High School in Warner Robins, GA, and acquired a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Valdosta State University in 2001. She later pursued her doctoral studies in clinical audiology at Nova Southeastern University, graduating with high distinction in 2006.  In 2022, Dr. Smiley received her certificate in Women's Entrepreneurship from the Bank of America and Cornell University Women's Entrepreneurship Program.

Dr. Smiley’s years as an audiologist have afforded her many opportunities within various audiology sectors, including education, public health, the Veterans Health Administration, and the Department of Defense.

Dr. Smiley has traveled to various countries, including Serbia, Honduras, Romania, and India, participating in international missions.  These experiences contributed to her dreams of mobilizing audiology services to the hard-to-reach and underserved worldwide.

Dr. Smiley is a member of the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association and the American Academy of Audiology.  She is licensed to practice in the state of Georgia.  Dr. Smiley is also a distinguished fellow of the National Academies of Practice, and she serves on the Service Project Sub-Committee.  She was a Convention Co-Chair for the 2025 American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Convention, a member of the Georgia Academy of Audiology (GAA) and the GAA Northern Regional Representative Post #1,  a member of the Georgia Head Start Association,  and the ASHA Georgia Representative for the Committee of Ambassadors for the 2024-2026 term.

WHAT OUR PATIENTS HAVE TO SAY...

"I just want to shout out and acknowledge this beautiful black woman, Dr. Carla Smiley. Less than 4% of audiologists are black! This made me smile in a big way! She then asked what was going on, I told her everything, and to hear Dr. Smiley say how important it is to advocate for YOURSELF. She was in DC walking around with stage 4 cancer and had to keep fighting, she said she would have been dead in graduate school hadn't she advocated for herself. It blessed me to hear this. I'm glad I have not stopped and have been actively seeking help! I have not felt good in months, but I continue to FIGHT! And Dr. Smiley is located in Fayetteville; she has a tiny house she operates out of, so dope!"
